Originally founded by Sam (Radiant) and Sam (Whiteblade), Cascadia is the premier annual Netrunner event for the West Coast community. For two years now I’ve had the honor of being the primary organizer, but this is by no means a solo show and it takes a village to put together an event like Cascadia. 

About the Prizes

The prizes I’m the most excited to announce are our Cascadia Champion alt arts. The most prestigious prize in our community is getting your likeness immortalized in the art on your favorite card. While commissioning the alt art for our 2025 Cascadia champion, Lia, I wanted to include nods to our two past Champions, Sokka (2024) and rongydoge (2023). Kira did such a good job with this piece and we ended up with three alt arts from the commission ✨

You’ll be able to pick up one of these champ cards (your choice) as a participation prize each day you attend. 

Headline prize: Seattle Center Luxury Line (Saturday Participation Prize)

I love commissioning alt arts and creating extensive prizing for the events I run. Part of how I can justify doing this is by using prizes in some capacity for more than one event, or by later making prizes available on this site. With that said, whenever I run Cascadia there will always be a prize you have to show up in person to collect! In 2023 that was the Seattle Tranquility Home Grid, in 2025 it was the Pike Place Open Markets, and this year it will be the Seattle Center Luxury Line. While these prizes are exclusive to the in-person event and will not be resold or distributed remotely, they will continue to be available every year I’m running Cascadia. You can pick up all three this year and, if you tragically have to miss this event, the Luxury Line will be available again next year. 

Friday and Sunday Participation Prizes

On Friday you’ll be able to pick up the Seattle Flagship and on Sunday you can get the Mount Rainier Tree Line. There may be other opportunities to acquire these two as they are not intended to be event exclusives. 

Bonus commission this year:
After Cascadia last year, Myriad reached out to me for advice about creating a commemorative alt art for Ksodiya's undefeated BanGun deck. The commission was fully planned and paid for by Myriad, and I was thrilled to print copies and add it to the prizing collection for Cascadia this year. This will be another Cascadia exclusive, and may not be available at future Cascadia events.

Friday

We are running the world's first (as far as I know) sealed booster pack draft for Netrunner. As an avid MTG drafter in 2009 with my small group of 6 friends who played together, I have always loved cracking open a booster pack and trying to pick between the fancy card I want to have and the card I know I should pick to optimize my deck 😄 I wanted to bring the thrill of that drafting experience and pile on just a little more excitement by adding teams! 

Participants will form teams of 2 players. One player will draft exclusively runner cards while the other player will draft corp cards. After the draft (which should take around an hour), there will be a break for lunch and deck building. Then we will play 4-5 rounds of swiss. Each round will be 40 minutes and you and your ally will face off against another team, your corp and runner vs their corp and runner. While one player will be piloting corp and one runner, you can share information with your ally and ask their advice. Nothing is particularly locked in - you can adjust your decks and switch which side you’re playing between rounds if you wish. 

A bit more about the booster packs: I have functionally built a 4000-5000 card cube and will be hand sealing ~225 foil booster packs. Each pack will contain 12 generic NSG cards and 6 cards that could be alt arts, IDs, or custom draft cards. You will be expected to return any generic NSG cards and IDs, but all the alt arts you draft are yours to keep. For the draft, you’ll be given 3 packs of 18 cards each, collect as many goodies as you can 😄

Designing and creating this draft event was definitely the largest time commitment and expense for the whole event 😅 I really hope you enjoy it ✨

Saturday

This one is pretty straightforward. On Saturday we are running the main swiss rounds for the standard event. Registration will open for 45 minutes at the beginning of the day and the rest of the time will be full of Netrunner games with one break for lunch. 

One of the best parts about in person events is the time in between games, sharing the ups and downs of your most recent game with friends and strangers alike. Trade alt arts with other attendees and the open trades table, or browse the Prize Wall.

At Cascadia 2025 I provided an extensive collection of alt arts as part of the Prize Wall, with everything priced in credits you could win during the event. This provided a large selection of flexible options so you could be rewarded for participating in any and all parts of the event and get exactly what you were personally the most excited about. I heard a lot of positive feedback about this set-up last year so we are bringing it back even bigger this year. In the lead up to Cascadia I ordered 20,000 Netrunner cards 😳 While I don’t expect we’ll go through all of them, there will be more prizing available at this event than any event I’ve ever attended.

Bring your alt art collection if you’re interested in trading with other players or at the open trades table. Official prizes that are rotated or banned are great options for trades.

Friday and Saturday Evening Socialization

One of the best things about large community events are the friends you make along the way. That’s why I keep coming back, planning events and traveling to see old friends and meet new players. In line with my primary goal of bringing players together to celebrate the Netrunner community, games are scheduled to end at 6pm on Friday and Saturday. This leaves the evenings free for socializing and general community building. While you can totally remain at Mox until they close (they have great food and lots of space to play Netrunner or other boardgames), the official event wraps up at 6pm and there will be some suggestions of other activities you can choose to partake in. These will all be casual, and you can choose your own adventure or tag along with your new friends. Some options we have so far:

• Stay at Mox for more games
• Head to a park for a free outdoor movie night
• Hangout at an Arcade
• Break some balls at a pool hall
• Stress over the final two slots in your decklist from 6:00pm-1am (better with friends)

Sunday

We will start off with the final two rounds of swiss fifteen minutes after the doors open at Mox. Everyone who qualifies for swiss on Sunday should arrive promptly and be prepared to play right away. After the swiss rounds are complete, we will take a short break and start with our top cut to determine the 2026 Cascadia Champion. With the start of the cut, all the Sunday side events will open. 

There will be multiple side events running simultaneously and you’re welcome to pick one or bounce between them depending on your interest and the side event’s capacity. Prize Wall credits can be won at all side events. Join the discord to see more details about any specific events you’re interested in attending or that you’d like to run. Some examples we expect to see returning are:

• Cube draft (full day commitment) limited to 8 players per pod
  
• Chimera (drop in/out welcome) up to 10 players at a time
  
• Duel decks (drop in/out welcome) up to ~18 players at a time
  
• Painting Table (drop in/out welcome) up to ~18 participants at a time
  
• Browsing and buying from the Prize Wall
  
• Play games from Mox’s library
  
• Other side events welcome (Share your ideas in discord!)
  

Painting Table

Last year the painting table was a huge success, and we’re bringing it back! This year, everyone who participates in the painting table side event will get their first paintable ID included with their ticket. Additional IDs will be available to purchase if you wish to paint more than one.
