Prizes and Art for the 2026 EMEA Showdown

by ManintheMoon

I am so excited to announce the first ever EMEA Showdown! The Showdown tournaments are online, community oriented Netrunner events specifically designed to bring together players of all skill levels from around the world. The Showdowns feature prizes from community artists and, for this event, we are showcasing the local talent of the EMEA region. Keep reading for more about the artists behind these awesome prizes!

EMEA Showdown 2026 will take place on July 11th!

BUY A TICKET HERE

For more information about the Showdown series, check out our article on everything you need to know about the 2026 Showdowns!

If you get your ticket during the first 48 hours, you’ll be the happy recipient of Baz by Abdo Nad. Members of my Patreon also get this included in their prizes, regardless of when they register.

Baz by Abdo Nad

I’ve always imagined Baz as an honorable but slightly crooked sheriff lost in time. When I saw Abdo Nad’s pencil art style I was excited to bring this vision to life. While the pencil style brings a simplicity to the piece, Abdo captured the character I was imagining very well.

Participation Prizes

Each Showdown ticket comes with the chance to choose two participation prizes from a collection of new and old prizes! The artists being featured with this event’s participation prizes are Jandon Banyu, nervousnightjar and Reza Afshar

Anoetic Void by Reza Afshar

I totally fell in love with Reza Afshar’s art while browsing instagram one day. His moody, detailed pen and ink art style does an amazing job of capturing unsettling and alien landscapes. The art used here for the Anoetic Void was not commissioned for the event, but is a piece by Reza titled Oblivion Gate. I got a limited license to use the art for an alt-art netrunner card and I really love how it turned out! I highly recommend checking out his instagram or Art Station account. I hope we end up with more Reza Afshar alt-arts in the future.

Petty Cash by nervousnightjar

nervousnightjar (Oko Żabicki) is a 3D game animator/rigger, currently teaching blender classes as her main gig. (Despite that, his netrunner alt-arts are made with traditional painting because he's weird like that.) She’s also an evil Jinteki glacier enjoyer.

What inspiration do you draw on for your art?

I love abstract art very much, and I think it translates well to the idea of netspace and ice. (I love Jinteki fauna and every abstract-y ice like Wraparound and the like!) Playing with oil painting, and deliberately using turpentine on top of linseed oil to make the colors react to each other in wavy ways is very fun, as well as mixing watercolour with oils. Even though my job involves a lot of 3D computer art, I have been drawn to traditional painting since I was little for 2D art, and I hope it still fits the cyberpunky aspect

Fermenter by Jandon Banyu

Working with Jandon is always really fun; his pen and ink style art has a horror theme that adapts well to the more dystopian settings found in the Netrunner’s cyberpunk world. He’s done two designs that previously appeared at Showdown events, Restoring Humanity and Hostile Architecture, both Corp cards. But this time I turned to Jandon to bring the virus program Fermenter into a meatspace setting. I’m really pleased with how he expressed his style in the piece, blending a colorful technological look with an unsettling feeling of untamed biology.

3 wins (or final round played): Stained Glass Dragon Phoenix by Aleksandra Simonović

I have really loved working with Aleksandra to create a collection of Stained Glass alt-arts. This Phoenix is the next in a set of Dragon runner IDs which have been prizes at each of the Showdowns this year. Aleksandra has been such a pivotal part of the Showdown prizing, and I’m excited to share with you a bit more about her!

Aleksandra Simonović is a Serbian illustrator and designer who creates colorful, detail focused artwork inspired by stained glass, fantasy art, folklore, and symbolic imagery. Alongside commissioned projects, Aleksandra also spends time exploring personal ideas and experimenting with different styles and compositions.

What inspiration do you draw on for your art?

A lot of my inspiration comes from stained glass art, fantasy illustration, folklore, mythology, and older decorative art styles. I really enjoy creating detailed pieces with strong colors and interesting shapes that pull people into the image and make them want to look a little longer.

Most of my work starts with loose sketches and ideas instead of a strict plan. I like figuring things out as I go and letting the artwork change naturally during the process. I’m especially interested in creating pieces that feel expressive, layered, and full of personality while still leaving room for people to interpret them in their own way.
